About Soul & Spectrum

In April 2022, while homeschooling her bright, neurodivergent daughter, Miki Young Brown began designing journals as a way to cope with her own mental health challenges. What started as a personal, therapeutic outlet quickly turned into something bigger—a creative spark that reignited her purpose. With no formal training, just heart, hustle, and help from mentors in the digital art space, Miki launched what was originally known as MYB Designs—a boutique brand rooted in healing, creativity, and representation.

By February 2023, MYB Designs had grown into a full online store, offering beautifully crafted journals, planners, and custom-designed goods that celebrated the strength and stories of melanated communities and those with special abilities. Drawing from her experiences as a Military Veteran, homeschooling mama, and mental wellness advocate, Miki used her designs to uplift others on their own journeys of self-discovery and emotional wellness.

As the brand expanded beyond journals to include home décor, gifts, apparel, and lifestyle accessories, it was time for a name that captured its evolving mission. And so, Soul & Spectrum was born.
